SETT Rules and Guidelines
- On arrival, divers will be directed to the
guardroom to book in.
- All equipment must be fully washed off before
use in the SETT. Any equipment found to be dirty i.e. covered in sand
or mud, will not be allowed in the facility
- Minimum qualification for a dive to the
bottom is BSAC sports or PADI advanced or equivalent with proof
of recent experience to that depth. Anyone arriving without the
relevant qualification to dive to 30 meters will not be allowed
to dive.
- All dives are to be carried out in accordance
with relevant training organisation rules/guidelines.
- FREE DIVING IS NOT ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Our licence and insurance is for scuba diving only.
- All divers not on a club event will need
to show proof of qualification and an in-date medical, or sign a medical
declaration on arrival. For club events, only the lead diver need
show proof, but is responsible for ensuring adequate qualification
and medicals for the group.
- All divers will be required to sign a Horsea
Island SETT liability form.
- Divers must attend a full safety brief before
the start of diving, given by the duty Instructor. This will be given
once the whole group has arrived, so punctuality is appreciated so
as not to keep the rest of the group waiting.
- All divers are responsible for their own
safety and dive plans. A staff member from Horsea Island will be at
the surface and a duty Instructor from the SETT on site at all times.
- All clubs and schools must provide oxygen
and first aid equipment with suitably qualified personnel, unless
previously agreed with Horsea Island Dive Centre.
- There is a ONE dive limit, with a maximum
bottom time of 15 minutes. The ascent rate should be as recommended
by your training organisation or computer, whichever the most conservative.
- No diver is to enter any of the blisters
situated at various depths in the tank.
- A safety stop is recommended on all dives.
- Only one pair of divers at a time will be
allowed at the bottom. The next pair will start their descent as the
previous pair are ascending.
- Although we want everyone to have an enjoyable
experience, please remember we are guests of the Royal Navy. If anyone
is found abusing the complex or its equipment, the facility will be
withdrawn.
- All visitors are only allowed in areas authorised
by the duty Instructor.
